ATTACK OF THE BEAVERS
The first hint that something was wrong came last fall. A few large pine trees
around one of the ponds were turning brown. These trees were off in the
distance, and I casually wondered what might be killing them. There did not seem
to be any reason for alarm. After all, a few dead trees are not really that
unusual. Right? And yet, there seemed to be something very wrong, and I just
could not identify the problem. Like most problems left unattended, this one
eventually got worse and let itself be known.
